I started photography casually while I was in university, mostly as a fun hobby when I had some free time. I started to take it more seriously after graduating, and have been gradually learning, building up my skills and developing a portfolio of different types of images. Photography has turned into such a wonderful creative outlet, and it also allows me to combine several of my passions and interests into one hobby, which is just so much fun! The name “Bluebird” is inspired by the lovely mountain bluebirds that are native to Alberta.
I currently focus mostly on bird and wildlife photography, as well as horses and equine sport photography. I also have experience in landscape and travel photography, family photos, weddings, professional portraits, and event photography. I love trying new styles and finding new ways to take pictures. There is always something new to learn!
I am hoping to start offering some photography services at a more professional level. Check out my portfolio for examples of my work, and feel free to reach out to me for any of your photography needs.
Canon R5 – Mirrorless camera

- Human and Animal autofocus detection
- In camera image stabilization
- Burst photo 12fps mechanical 20fps electronic shutter
- 8K video capabilities
Canon 6D mkII – DSLR
This was my main camera for the longest time. Most of the images currently available on my website were taken by this camera! It takes lovely photos and I plan on continuing to use it!
- 26.2 Megapixel full frame sensor
- 6.5fps mechanical shutter
- 45 point autofocus system
Lenses
One of the most important aspects of getting a high quality photo is using high quality glass. Almost all of my lenses are “L” series, meaning they are professional grade lenses.
My lenses:
- Canon EF 70-200 LII – F2.8
- Canon EF 100-400 LII – F4.5-5.6
- Canon EF 24-105 LII – F4
- Canon EF 50
- Canon RF 14-35 L F4
- Canon EF 2x III extender
Computing power for editing
I custom built this computer for myself last year. The upside to having high end gaming parts is that the computer becomes a powerful photo editing machine!
Featuring a high end graphics processor – Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080
The Asus Pro-Art monitor panel provides me with calibrated accurate colours for more accurate adjustments in lightroom.
Adobe lightroom and photoshop are my main photo editing programs, and allow me to get the most out of the RAW image files from the camera.
Dual screen editing allows me to check for fine details as I make adjustments to the image.
