Welcome to Bluebird photo! My name is Jessie Campbell.
I currently focus mostly on horses and equine sport photography, as well as family photography, and wildlife photography. I shoot a little bit of everything – whatever catches my interest. A wide variety of subjects has given me a very well rounded skill set. Birds have been a special interest of mine for quite awhile – which is where “bluebird photo” originated – for the native mountain bluebirds in the area where I live.
I have been a Dressage rider myself for pretty much my entire life. I have my own horse and we are currently schooling third level with hopes of moving up the levels! My heart is in the Dressage ring which makes it much easier for me to understand exactly what riders are looking for in their photos. My editing style brings the focus onto my subject while allowing natural colours and lighting to shine.

I personally feel that photos are best enjoyed when they are printed in physical format and placed in a special place for viewing. For this reason, all photos I provide to my clients are full sized and never downscaled, so you can print your photos and find a special place to view and enjoy them.
I have been lucky enough to have my photos published in EuroDressage, Horse Sport, SaddleUp! Magazine, and several other publications. Seeing photos from events I have attended published and printed has been a major highlight for me.
A bit about my cameras:

Canon R5 – Mirrorless camera
This is my main camera! Having some of the most recent up to date technology, it allows me to take high speed action shots (up to 20 pictures in one second) at huge file sizes – this means if you wanted to print a very large wall print from one of my photos, you could!
- 45 Megapixel full frame CMOS sensor
- Human and Animal autofocus detection
- In camera image stabilization
- Burst photo 12fps mechanical 20fps electronic shutter
- 8K video capabilities
Canon 6D mkII – DSLR
This was my main camera for the longest time. It takes lovely photos and I plan on continuing to use it as a backup camera!
- 26.2 Megapixel full frame sensor
- 6.5fps mechanical shutter
- 45 point autofocus system

Lenses
One of the most important aspects of getting a high quality photo is using high quality glass. Almost all of my lenses are “L” series, meaning they are professional grade lenses.
Computing power for editing
I custom built this computer for myself awhile ago. The upside to having a high end graphics card is that the computer becomes a powerful photo editing machine!
Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080
The Asus Pro-Art monitor panel provides me with calibrated accurate colours for more precise adjustments in lightroom.
Photos are stored on a redundant UNRAID home server which is managed by my husband. This ensures photos are always backed up and safe.

Adobe lightroom and photoshop are my main photo editing programs, and allow me to get the most out of the RAW image files from the camera. I also use DxO Pure RAW for photos which have been taken in low light (such as indoor riding arena photos) – this helps with sharpness and noise reduction.
Dual screen editing allows me to check for fine details as I make adjustments to the image.
